MPIT - Management Practices in It Panel

Purpose
The panel exists to:-

  • Share good practice and ideas.
  • Influence Government policy and legislation.
  • Work with suppliers on long term trends on management in local government.
  • Be the principal point of contact with SOCITM.

Membership
The panel is open to all Chief Executives, senior member and partner organisations of SOLACE.  It has a completely open membership policy – just turn up.

Organisation
The panel is hosted by SOLACE, usually at the SOLACE offices in London.  The Chair is appointed for a 2-3 year period and organisational support is provided by that individual’s organisation as well as support from the SOLACE office.

Work Programme
The panel has operated in a workshop style looking at topics suggested by panel members.  Over the last three years, these have included:

  • Service transformation – precursor to the Varney report and the Local Government White Paper.
  • Leadership, particularly the Member/Officer interface.
  • e-democracy
  • CPA
  • Shared Services
  • Neighbourhood engagement

Learning Resources
After each meeting the slide presentations will be added to the learning resources section.
