Solace Masterclass: How do we ensure that growth benefits everyone?

20 Feb

With the recent shocks brought by Brexit and the election of President Donald Trump, economic exclusion has risen in profile as a big concern across many Western democracies. Too many in society do not feel they are benefiting from the new technologies and industries of the modern economy, instead feeling disenfranchised and left behind – a trend that was only worsened by the economic crash of 2008. Local authorities play a key role in ensuring the wellbeing of local populations, yet at the same time the ability to stimulate growth will be crucial to the future financial sustainability of local government. How can local authorities promote growth but not leave anyone behind? How can they mitigate against the underlying social tensions brought to the fore by Brexit?.

How can we use data to better understand what is happening in systems and to design smarter interventions? How do we work with the whole system so that the partners act together, realise benefits for one another and produce outcomes they could not produce acting alone? What do we need to do to collaborate in finding more intelligent, collective responses to the long-term challenges facing public service? The event will share the results of SOLACE's Innovation and Commissioning Network's research into how authorities are using whole systems thinking

How do District councils become self-sustainable by adopting a Commercial approach?
