How do District councils become self-sustainable by adopting a Commercial approach?

This interactive workshop for district council chief executives, directors and officers will provide you with crucial insight and real examples into how a number of organisations have started the journey to becoming entrepreneurial.

The landscape of local government is rapidly changing and local authorities are being challenged to transform public services to prevent problems rather than just pick up the pieces. Despite dealing with a 33% cut in funding from central government since 2010/11 and facing a sector-wide future funding gap of £15.6 billion by 2019 /2020, district councils need to lead the way in revolutionising their services. A vital part of achieving this is the ability to influence the demand for services.

Are you prepared to respond to this agenda?

This workshop will help you to understand the opportunities and enable you to influence the future work of the DCN in this very important area.

The workshop aims to:

*  Raise awareness of the opportunities and potential for district councils to operate in a more commercial way;

*  Give real examples of successful income generators and efficiency savings;

*  Explore the need for a behavioural change from a workforce, customer and community perspective;

*  Tools and tips on how to change behaviour.
