Aim of the Event

The theme this year is ‘Future Local Government: Impact of the Election’. With the oncoming general election and constant changing political arena, this is the ideal forum to hear from a range of speakers who will share their views on likely scenarios post-May and the impact these may have on local government. The event has been organised to ensure you are as fully briefed as possible about the possible challenges that lie ahead. Each of the sessions will provide the opportunity to debate the issues raised and ask questions of the speakers.

Future Local Government: Impact of the Election
Does the actual result really matter? Central government cannot afford itself; local government needs to promote itself as an alternative. Who do we need to build relationships with and how do we continue to meet the challenges on health and social care? This session will look at what the next five years hold for local government and how different these will be from the past five years?
Speakers Simon Parker, NLGN and Ben Odams, Staffordshire County Council
