Aim of the Event

In what will become an annual event, we are pleased to be hosting the first Solace Leadership Forum on 26th February in London. Focusing on the very specific theme of Leadership, it will provide an opportunity for Solace members to engage with and learn from some of the most successful and high profile leaders and academics from across the private, public and voluntary sectors.

Following from our Liverpool Summit, we intend to use the Annual Solace Leadership Forum to celebrate all that we have already achieved as a sector in delivering and leading change locally-and challenge ourselves to press ahead ‎with the inevitable changes we face in the future.

Following the Leadership Forum, full Solace members are also invited to the 2015 Annual Charity dinner, which this year takes place at the iconic Globe Theatre – the home of Shakespeare on London’s Southbank.

Session 3 : Upside Down Management? A leadership approach for the public sector
John Timpson CBE
Speaker: John Timpson CBE
There’s a lot of hot air in the world of business. Wouldn’t it be nice just to hear some common sense? That’s exactly what John Timpson has got. After four decades running his family business and turning it into one of the high street’s biggest success stories, he really knows what works and what doesn’t.

In this session, based on the approach he has articulated in his book Upside Down Management John Timpson will be sharing with us how he turned the way the business was run on its head and the lessons he learned in the process. And we will explore how we in the public sector can learn from his approach.
