Two of the UK's top cops, a returned native and the chief executive of Belfast City Council will be speaking at the SOLACE conference in the Waterfront Hall this afternoon. All their sessions will be web broadcast live. [see:

The chief constables of the PSNI, Sir Hugh Orde, and West Yorkshire, Sir Norman Bettison will be speaking on Policing Divided Communities at 4pm.
SOLACE (Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers) represents top level council staff across the UK.
The 600-strong conference will hear from SOLACE President, Trish Haines, who is Belfast born and bred at 2.35pm. She will be speaking to the conference theme, Prosperity, People and Place.
She said, "Local government gives people support and services through thick and thin, good and tough times, and we want to show the rest of the UK how Northern Ireland and Belfast have revived since the Troubles. Belfast has revived since the recession in the 1990s so it is ideally placed to show the rest of us how regeneration can work."
At 3.30pm Peter McNaney, the chief executive of Belfast City Council will talk about Placeshaping Belfast. He will be presenting the difficulties and the success of the city in bringing together divided communities.
