Statement on the Evaluation of the Troubled Families Programme
Evidence published today by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government shows that hundreds of thousands of people have been helped by the Troubled Families Programme.
Commenting on the figures Martin Reeves, Solace spokesperson on Local Government Finance said: “While the sector has long been confident of the achievements of the Troubled Families Programme, it is reassuring to see its achievements recognised so comprehensively.
“It demonstrates the value of early intervention across a range of integrated services and we hope the Government takes the lessons from this programme and applies it more widely.
The next Spending Review provides the Treasury and MHCLG with the opportunity to properly fund preventative and early intervention services, and do so in a way that enables councils to coordinate activities across a place to the greatest effect. This evaluation sheds light on a positive future vision for local government, where it is free to invest in early impact and collaborate with local partners to ensure their sum is greater than their parts.”
